National Zoo & School of Hard Knocks Tour

We begin our tour with National Zoo – the largest zoo in Malaysia, and situated just outside the city limits and yet a world away from its hustle and bustle.  Located 13km northeast of Kuala Lumpur, the National Zoo houses some 200 species of animals, birds and reptiles, while the aquarium has 80 species of marine and fresh-water life.   Within the extensive grounds, is an area for sea lions where visitors can see them being most active during feeding time.

Next, proceed to the Royal Selangor Pewter factory, where upon arrival you’ll be taken for a tour of the Pewter Gallery.  The Gallery offers a host of interactive displays and fascinating exhibits, aimed at educating and titillating the senses.  From the Gallery, we continue with the highlight of today’s tour – School of Hard Knocks – using just a few simple tools (hammer, wooden mould, scraper), make a pewter dish personalized with you initials or message that you wish to engrave on the dish.  Step by step, the experienced pewtersmith will guide you through the simple processes of forming, scraping, polishing and packing.  The finished dish is for you to keep, along with an apron as a momento.  A personalized certificate will be presented to you, to attest to your newfound skills.

Tours are conducted by air-conditioned tour coaches or van (free seating basis), and fully escorted by licensed English speaking tourist guides.  We pick-up and drop-off at selected hotels only, and within Kuala Lumpur city limits.
