MULU HEADHUNTERS TRAIL / MOUNT MURUD/ NIAH CAVES
Day 1 Arrive Miri
Meet upon arrival in Miri and transfer to Mega Hotel or similar. Overnight. (Options : City Tours available with different cost)
Day 2 Depart Miri / Arrive Mulu/ Lang Cave / Deer Cave/ Bat Return
Travel from Miri to Mulu by air. From Park HQ walk on the plank walk through peat swamp forest
to Lang’s Cave and Deer Cave. Enjoy an evening wait for the bats. Swiftly return to the lodge.
Day 3 Boat Ride /Penan Settlement/ Wind Cave/ Clearwater Cave/ Camp 5
After breakfast take a boat ride to Wind and Clearwater Caves. On the way, enjoy a brief visit to
Batu Bungan Penan Settlement. Have a picnic lunch at Clearwater Spring. In the afternoon,
transfer by boat to Long Litut. Trek about 3-4hrs to your overnight stay at Camp 5 (BLD)
Day 4 Mount Api / Camp 5
After breakfast, start your ascent to Mount Api to view Pinnacles, (picnic lunch at viewpoint.) Start
descending back to Camp 5. Overnight (BLD)
Day 5 Iban Tribal Longhouse/ Limbang Town
Begin your morning trek through lowland forest to Terikan River before proceeding by boat down
the Terikan and Medalam Rivers to Bala Lasong Iban Tribal Longhouse for brief visit. Proceed
your journey by boat to Nanga Medamit and take a 1 hour drive to Limbang town. Overnight at
local hotel.(BLD)
Day 6 Depart Limbang/ Return to Miri
After breakfast, transfer overland to Lawas which brings you through Temburong, Brunei
territory. Check in at local hotel in Lawas. Free at leisure. (B/L/D) (Kindly ensure that you have
valid entry documentation as passport or visa to enter Brunei Darusallam. BJS will not be
held responsible should there be any delay or default on trip and tour due to invalid
permit)
Day 7 Arrive Ba Kelalan / Lepo Bunga
Transfer to Airport for your flight to Ba Kelalan. Lunch at Apple Lodge. After lunch transfer to Pa Rebata / Lepo Bunga. Overnight. (B/L/D)
Day 8 Lepo Bunga / Batu Linanit / Church Camp
From Lepo Bunga we proceed on to Batu Linanit . Weather permit you will have a great view of Mt Mulu, Indonesia, Batu Lawi and Ba’Kelalan. Proceed to Church Camp Overnight (B/L/D)
Day 9 Ascend summit / Descend to Church camp/ Lepo Bunga / Buduk Nur
Ascending to the summit of Mount Murud (7950ft) the highest mountain in Sarawak (2-3hrs) Descending to Church Camp. Overnight (B/L/D)
Day 10 Depart Lepo Bunga
After breakfast, descend to Lepo Bunga for your 4x4wd transfer to Ba Kelalan. Overnight at Apple Lodge. (B/L/D)
Day 11 Arrive Miri
Return to Lawas by flight or 4x4WD and connecting flight to Miri (Direct flight Ba Kelalan – Miri are available on Wednesday). Check in at Mega Hotel or similar. (B/L/D)
Day 12 Niah Caves
After breakfast, pick up to Niah at 0830hrs. We start off in the morning with a scenic countryside drive to Niah National Park (110 km) through oil palm plantations and local pepper farms and villages. On arrival at the Niah National Park, we will register at the park and then take the longboat ride at Pangkalan Lobang to cross the river where we will start off with a visit to the Niah Museum first. The prehistoric Niah Caves is famed for its role as one of the birthplaces of civilisation in Asia. The oldest human remains were found in Niah making the park one of the most important archaeological sites of the world. Tour of the cave will take you through the Great and Painted Caves as well as allowing you to witness the age-old remnants of bird’s nest harvesting equipment inside the cave (now a government controlled activity). Tour into the caves will take approximately 3 hours. Stop over at Niah Park canteen for a local lunch before we return to Miri. On the way, we will stop over at an Iban longhouse for a short visit. Return to the hotel. Overnight. (B/L/D)
Day 13 Depart Miri
Transfer to airport for your flight out. (B)
