3 DAYS 2 NIGHTS MT. KINABALU CLIMB VIA MESILAU
Day 1 : BKI / MESILAU NATURE RESORT
Meet at airport upon arrival and transfer by land to Mesilau Nature Resort. The journey will take approximately 3 hours and drive through the scenic countryside and witness the breathtaking view of Mountain Range. Stop at Nabalu, a typical roadside market along the way. Local handicraft and fruits can be found at here. Continue heading to Mesilau Nature Resort which is situated 2000 metres above sea level at the foot of the magnificent Mount Kinabalu , within the World Heritage site. Mesilau Nature Resort promises to enchant visitors with its cool temperate climate and serene surroundings. In this amazing nature-lovers paradise, you have the opportunity to take a walk along the nature trail and see the region famous insect-trapping pitcher plants. Check in for get an overnight experience of our mountain climate. (Dinner)
Day 2 : LABAN RATA
Breakfast. Gather for mountain climb registration and proceed to the starting point of your mountain scaling trip. One extraordinary sight is that you will notice the change of vegetation from Oak and Chestnut to mossy forest and eventually to alpine vegetation when you finally reach your overnight based at 3,272m - Laban Rata. The views along the trail are spectacular and an amazing array of flora can be encountered along the way, including various species of insect-eating pitcher plants, superb orchids, and perhaps even the world's largest flower, the “Rafflesia”. However, it will require luck to see the latter, for they flower occasionally and only for a short period of time. Have the rest of the day free to relax, rest up and get ready for the big climb tomorrow early morning. Some people, especially those not climbing to the summit, may wish to bring along a book to read or some games to wile away the “time Forest”. (Breakfast / Packed Lunch / Dinner)
Day 3 : SUMMIT / KOTA KINABALU
The final ascent to the summit begins very early and takes about 2-3 hours as our aim is to be on the top for sunrise. It will be dark when you begin your walk (head torches with fresh batteries are strongly recommended), and coupled with the high altitude, it will be very cold and tiring (warm clothing essential). However, if you succeed in climbing the summit at Low’s peak, a great sense of achievements will fill you. (As this sector of the trip is very challenging, the summit climb is optional this morning and those who choose not to climb to the top can remain behind at Laban Rata.) After savoring what is a once-in-a-lifetime experience, return to Laban Rata (in much faster time!) with the opportunity for a well-earned breakfast before continuing on down to park headquarters. After lunch, return to Kota Kinabalu and transfer to your place. (Breakfast /Lunch)
