Overview:
Discover Sandakan or “Little Hong Kong” former state capital of Sabah and have a closer look at the Wildman of Borneo. An encounter with the free roaming Orang Utan at Sepilok and other wildlife such as the ‘Long nose’ Proboscis monkey, pigmy elephant, reptiles and birds as we cruise along the mighty Kinabatangan river, a truly unique experience!
Suggested program:
Day One: ARRIVAL SANDAKAN – CITY TOUR (L, D)
AM – Meet upon arrival at Sandakan airport and transfer to Sandakan City via World War II POW’s Camp at mile 8 before heading for lunch at local restaurant. Thereafter continue visiting places of interest around the city including Puu Jih Syh Chinese Buddhist Temple that offers a panoramic view of Sandakan Bay, Wet market, City centre and Sim Sim water village. Check-in at your hotel. Evening, transfer to local restaurant for dinner. Overnight stay at hotel.
Day Tw SEPILOK ORANG UTAN – SUKAU WILDLIFE CRUISE (B, L, D)
Breakfast at hotel. Depart to Sepilok Orang Utan Rehabilitation Centre and visit first the exhibition gallery to learn some of their conservation programs then to the viewing platform for the feeding of Orang Utan at 10am. After lunch, we continue our overland journey to Sukau for the afternoon river cruise in search of wildlife. Return at dusk and retrace our journey back to Sandakan. Dinner at local restaurant and overnight stay at hotel.
Day Three: DEPARTURE SANDAKAN (B)
Breakfast at hotel. Free at own leisure until your transfer out for flight departure home.
