The "Make It Malaysia" programme successfully generated closer industry relationships with foreign travel trade partners. In 2005, three groups of overseas media and front liners were brought in to experience various tourism products and holiday destinations to help them market Malaysia more convincingly.

From 19 to 25 November 2005, a total of 163 representatives from media, tour consultancies and corporations in Germany, Netherlands, Austria, Eastern Europe, France, Croatia, Turkey, Italy, Bosnia Herzegovina, Serbia and Spain arrived for pre-tours around the country before convening at a travel mart in Langkawi.

The local travel trade personnel meeting them were representatives from the Langkawi Development Authority (LADA), Malaysia Airlines (MAS) and Malaysian Association of Tour & Travel Agents (MATTA). Industry presentations during the tourism seminar and workshop sessions were in five different languages (English, French, German, Italian and Spanish) to give the participants a better understanding of the proceedings.

Following the first batch, some 92 participants from the United Kingdom, Scandinavia and Russia took part in the "Make It Malaysia" programme from 30 November to 8 December 2005. As part of the promotional activities organised by Tourism Malaysia's International Promotion Division, the European visitors toured Penang, Kedah, Langkawi, Selangor, Kuala Lumpur and Putrajaya.
