Penang, 4 March 2010 - Golden Sands Resort, Penang, managed by Shangri-La, has recently undergone a MYR50 million (approximately USD14 million) redevelopment programme. The resort now sets a new standard in Asian hospitality that redefines the meetings, incentives, conventions and exhibitions (MICE) experience with its special promotional Take A Break Meeting Package, as well as Full Day or Half Day Meeting Packages, from now until 20 December 2010.

For every 30 paying rooms, the Take A Break Meeting Package rewards guests with a range of additional complimentary benefits. These include two Superior Hillview rooms with buffet breakfast, one backdrop (without logo) for the event, a broadband line per day in the meeting room and morning coffee or tea prior to the meeting. Also included is a two-hour team building session at Adventure Zone, an indoor entertainment complex spanning 10,300 square feet equipped with various drop slides, multiple sections of modular play equipment and a game zone, and which is the only one of its kind in Malaysia.

Other optional activities are available at Golden Sands Resort, Penang to spice up meeting or team building events, including water sports, an excursion to Penang National Park, jungle trekking, a paint ball competition, sightseeing and golfing at the resort’s par-three executive golf course.

Terms and conditions apply to the Take A Break Meeting Package. The offer is limited to a maximum of five complimentary rooms per night per group and is subject to room availability. The package is not valid with any room blocks or enquiries currently contracted and it cannot be used in conjunction with other promotions or discounts. Arrival and departure must be within the validity period.

Meanwhile, for MYR105++ per person per day, the Full Day Meeting Package includes a full day’s use of a meeting room, welcome coffee or tea prior to the meeting, two coffee and tea breaks daily, one lunch, use of one flip chart and whiteboard, meeting stationery, bottled mineral water and mints throughout the session.

For MYR95++ per person, the Half Day Meeting Package includes use of a main meeting room from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. or 1 to 5 p.m., welcome coffee or tea prior to the meeting, one coffee and tea break, one lunch, use of one flip chart and whiteboard, meeting stationery, bottled mineral water and mints throughout the meeting.

The Full Day and Half Day Meeting packages apply with a minimum of 15 persons per group, and are subject to other terms and conditions.

The year-long redevelopment programme is the most extensive ever in the resort’s 30-year presence in Penang and it has completely transformed the resort. The 387 guestrooms offer plush accommodation with value-add refinements and a commanding view of the sea or lush tropical greenery.
