Jalan Tuanku Abdul Rahman, or fondly known among local folks as Jalan TAR, is popular for those looking for textiles and apparels. The main shopping area here stretches from Jalan Dang Wangi junction to Jalan Tun Perak, with rows of shops on each side of the road providing some of the best bargains in town. The area is especially busy before Hari Raya, as most of the shops will be giving special offers and discounts.
The road was initially called Jalan Batu (Batu Road) before being renamed after the first Yang DiPertuan Agong (King). Over the years, the area evolved as more buildings were built, making this street one of the busiest in Kuala Lumpur. On Saturday night, the back lane of the main road called Lorong Tuanku Abdul Rahman will be busy with hawkers and shoppers in a weekly night market - the largest night market in the country.
