The house, built during the first quarter of the century in the style fashionable during the era, has been converted by its owner, Tuan Hj. Hashim bin Dato Demang Hj. Abdul Ghan, into a private museum. Located in Kampong Morten, which is the only Malay village in the heart of Melaka city, the house has the history that goes back to the British Land Reform Act 1920. Visitors can view intriguing collection of costumes, Malay embroidery, furniture, muskets and an array of interesting relics. As for curator, the owner would be glad to play the role from whom visitors can ask additional information.
Melaka is easily accessible by roads. From Kuala Lumpur, you can take express buses to Melaka at Puduraya Bus Station. The two and half hour journey will cost you around RM9.00. You will reach the Melaka Sentra bus station where you alight to take a taxi to Kampung Morten where the Villa is located.

"The idea of putting up the name Villa Sentosa as a Living Museum justify that it is not the actual museums that you have been to. It is also not the intention of the owner to display everything that he owns to the public. If so, it will just be another sorts of museums that are found all over the places in Melaka. I think the owner wants you to 'feel' the difference of a living museum, if I can put into that kind of thinking. What does Zulasri meant by ' carikan barang'. I do not think it is a good gesture. Anyway the aura of Villa Sentosa should be made known and highlighted in any website all over the world. Tourist will come in pouring then it could help the owner to maintain and upgrade his Living Museum. By the way, a website of Tourism Melaka doesn't help much, as it hardly mention anything about Villa Sentosa and Kampong Morten.

"29/2/08- Going to Melaka by bus from Pudu Raya Station Kuala Lumput is no longer RM7.90 but RM9++. And the bus terminal mentioned in "Getting There" column is no longer near the villa sentosa. Melaka now got a new bus terminal called Melaka Sentra. So, to go to villa sentosa, you might need to get a taxi to Kampung Morten." by Dennis Ong
