Things will never stay the same as the year goes by. The same goes with Jonker Walk as over the year it has become more happening than it was. With more hustling crowd especially those from the other part of the world, Jonker Walk has more outlets with additional souvenirs and myriads of miscellaneous trinkets, antiques, and mouth watering delicacies.

About 1km spread at Jalan Hang Jebat, Jonker Walk is located in the city centre of Melaka making it easy to locate. Among the interesting happenings are the extraordinary showcases of an old Chinese dude who breaks coconut with his finger and accomplish other wonders and it never fails to draw crowd to watch him till he says it is a wrap for the night. Apparently he is one of the pioneers of the Walk and thus is his way living.

The added new waves at Jonker are the cafes and craft shops. The alluring cafes are literally in between historical buildings, which allow you to take a break from the walk and sip a glass of teh tarik while listening to Pakcik Sheikh’s version of dangdut. He is quite an entertainer as he will lure you to make that stop at the respective café.

As you continue the walk, a variety of antiques and the perfect-gift-for-everyone stops will possess you to at least touch it. All good sold here are reasonable and negotiable. Other notable items are the art or paintings of mostly historical buildings the marks the presence of the long ago invaders of Melaka.

Be sure to finish the walk as there might be more than just one thing that you might like to carry home. Jonker Walk opens from 5pm onwards. To get there, hop on the trishaw that will take you around the town first and make its final stop at Jalan Hang Tuah.
