"Ulu Bendol Recreational Forest is situated at kilometre 20 of Seremban - Kuala Pilah road in compartments 45 and 52 of Angsi Forest Reserve."

Delve into one of the oldest jungles in the world, the Ulu Bendol forest, on the southern edge of the Titiwangsa mountain range, on the fringe of Batang Terachi River within the district of Kuala Pilah, Negeri Sembilan. This forest is estimated to be around 130 million years old. Ulu Bendol offers a multitude of spots for camping, jungle trekking, fishing and swimming, ideal for the perfect tropical jungle excursion. Your nature expedition will bring you to crystal clear rivers, cascading waterfalls, and various strange and vibrant tropical plants and animals.

Mountain climbers can start exploring the hill terrain by wading along Batang Terachi river. Gunung Angsi, or Mount Angsi, one of the attractions at Ulu Bendol Recreational Forest, stands at 825m above sea level and takes about four hours to climb. The climb takes you through a 4.5km route that trails the Batang Terachi River. Surrounded by other mountains such as Gunung Telapak Buruh, Gunung Berembun, Gunung Dato' and Gunung Tampin, the view on top of Gunung Angsi certainly makes the climb worth it. The Ulu Bendol forest is rich with all kinds of tropical trees such as the Meranti, Keruing, Damar Hitam, and Mersawa in a protected environment.

The Batang Terachi River, flanked by large boulders which creates pools of natural dam along the way, making for perfect spots for a relaxing dip. A modest hawker centre, children's playground, rest rooms, surau (prayer rooms) and ample car park are available here. Basic facilities like log cabin chalet and camping sites are available for visitors' convenience. Chalets and A-shaped huts range around RM 19 to RM 30 per night. You can also find areas designated as camping grounds for the responsible camper. The Forestry Department in charge of Ulu Bendol is intent on making sure that Ulu Bendol forest remains pristine. So beware of the RM500 fine for littering, and please be responsible visitors at Ulu Bendol - take nothing but pictures, and leave nothing but footprints!

For more information, please contact the Forestry Department at Kuala Pilah (Tel: 606-481 1036) or the Negeri Sembilan Forestry Department (Tel: 606-7625690, 4811036, 7601231)

User recommendation

"We loved the forest, the Dormitory and the falls. We had no problems booking via phone and payment was made easy too.But little disappointed with littering and overflow of garbage at the dustbin provided. The traffic jam within the park(we visited during Chinese New Year 2005) was worse than that at KL. Otherwise we had great time. We would love to visit again."   by Dr Eswari
