"As the first building built by the British in Kuala Lipis, it was once the home to the British Resident appointed to Pahang."
There is history behind the Kuala Lipis Rest House building. It used to be the Pahang Club House, built in 1867. As the first building built by the British in Kuala Lipis, it was once the home to the British Resident appointed to Pahang. It also served as a temporary home to Sir Huge Clifford, the then superintendent of Ulu Pahang, who later became the second British Resident to the state.
