"Located at Bandar Sunway, a township between Petaling Jaya and Subang Jaya, it is Malaysia'a premier theme park, spread over some 30 hectares of what was once a tin mine."
Sunway Lagoon has attracted more than 20 million local and foreign visitors since its inception in 1993. Recently, it has re-introduced yet another highly anticipated water park packed with cutting edge attractions which deliver more thrills, more fun, in an exotic environment.
Sunway Lagoon is separated into three major themed lands -- Waters of Africa, Wild Wild West and World of Adventure, each boasting their own unique attractions.
Water of Africa introduces 11 brand new thrilling and exciting water slides, featuring new attractions, like the Congo Challenge, Cameroon Climb, African Pythons and many more.
The Congo Challenge is Malaysia’s only head-first speed racer water slide whereas the Cameroon Climb is the 'world’s first' inverted double tube climb, steeply drops two riders at one time from as high as 15m and shoots them up again to eight metres in height, then 'see-sawing' backward and forward before coming to a complete stop. Another not-to-be-missed ride is the African Pythons.
A new attraction to look out for is the new Zulu Walk, a hip and happening "African" Walk that has lots to offer in a variety of tempting food and beverages, trendy retail shopping, plus daily 'live' African tribal dance performances and fire-eaters.
Wild Wild West takes one back to the old frontier of cowboys and Indians. Discover authentically-styled facades and totem poles which further enhance the feel of a cowboy town. Find yourselves in the company of roaming Apache Indians and saloon dancing girls, as you stroll along the streets of the Wild Wild West. Get wet on the exhilarating Niagara Falls Flume Ride, be swirled around the raging waters of the Grand Canyon River Rapids and feel the world going upside down as you experience the 360-degree swings of the Tomahawk. Fun rides for the whole family here include the Buffalo Bill Coaster, Apache Pots and Butch Cassidy's Trail.
At the World of Adventures, the World's Longest Pedestrian Suspension Bridge, measuring 428m in length, offers a breathtaking view of the whole Lagoon from a dizzying height.
Its latest attraction is the Sunway Surf Beach; the world’s largest man-made beach after it had been given a RM1.6million face lift recently. The beach comes complete with three islands near a 1.6km stretch of sandy area. And, the waves reach up to a height of 2.4m, something that would delight not just the amateur but also professional surfers. Sunway Lagoon brought in 6,000 tonnes of sand and 146 palm trees to make the venue look like a real beach.
The Lost City of Gold ride takes the adventurous through tunnels, booby traps and tarantulas. World of Adventure is also the home of Lagoon's Siberian and Bengal tigers. Other attractions include the swinging Galleon the heart-stopping Flying Carpet. These are among many exhilarating rides and attractions that will guarantee a true adventure experience. So go and 'Feel the Fun!' at the Lagoon.
