1. Mount Kinabalu/Kinabalu Park
The park is known for the abundance and diversity of its plant life with over 1,200 species of flora and fauna. It was gazetted to preserve the valuable natural heritage encompassed within the mountains and its natural environment.
2. Kapalai
Between Sipadan and Mabul Island lies a sandbar that sits on the reef known as the Ligitan Reefs. The reef, a very extensive stretch bordering the deep and vast Celebes Sea.
3. Sabah Tea Garden
Sabah Tea Plantation is the largest single commercial tea plantation in Borneo with an area of 1,000 acres.
4. Pulau Tiga Park
Consists of three main islands, this park is acclaimed for its pristine natural environment. Covering a total area of 15,864ha., this park was gazetted in 1978 to protect its pristine natural environment.
5. Sipadan Island
The late Jacques Cousteau, the world-renowned oceanographer, described Pulau Sipadan (Sipadan Island) as ‘an untouched piece of art’, while divers around the world voted it as the best diving spot in the world.
6. Danum Valley
This conservation area is one of the last remaining primary lowland rainforests in Asia, and preserves many plant and animal species found only in Borneo.
7. Agnes Keith's Memorial
Agnes Keith and her husband, Harry, who was Conservator of Forest and Curator of North Borneo Museum during the time of the British, lived here from 1930 to 1952.
8. Kampung Bavanggazo
Kampung Bavanggazo is a Rungus Longhouse located in a valley not far from the main road to Kudat, near Tinangol
9. Gomantong Cave
For centuries, bird nests harvested here are being exported to China where it had been and still is an expensive delicacy.
10. Labuk Bay Proboscis Monkey Sanctuary
A perfect Proboscis monkeys observation spot for any tourist who wants to have a closer look at these very rare monkeys.
