Designed by Nigel Douglas and a few local designers, the 36-hole course consists of the Sol Nine (3,089 metres), Matang Nine (3,162 metres) and Santubong Nine (3,232 metres). Both courses feature long fairways, but golfers will be quick to realise that power play is not the rule of the game here. Instead, natural vegetation insists on accurate play. A hook could land you in thick ravine and lost balls will be costly. Hole 12 on the first nine is good par 3 that will please any golfer.
The right club selection will leave you crossing water safely before landing on a small green guarded by a sand bunker on the right. There is not much room for error - any errant shots and there will be a likelihood of a double bogey! But conversely, there is equal opportunity of a birdie for careful golfers here.
