The great artiste P.Ramlee was a name that was synonymous with the growth of the music and film movement in Malaysia during the 50’s era. Until today, his films and songs are still very much a favourite of the newer generations. Seeing how extremely special P.Ramlee was, the National Archive of Malaysia decided to renovate his former home to be transformed into the Pustaka Peringatan P.Ramlee or the P. Ramlee Memorial was officiated on the 22nd March 1986. The objective of erecting this memorial is to commemorate the work and contributions of the late P.Ramlee in the movie industry of Malaysia thus encouraging continuous research in the areas and aspects of Malaysia’s arts and culture.

The displays shown are according to themes to allow easy viewing for the patrons to learn about the late P.Ramlee a little closely. Themes available are Sepintas Lalu, Biografi, Kenali P.Ramlee, Era Kebangkitan, Irama dan Lagu, Dunia Filem, Anugerah, Sepanjang Riwayatku, Al-Fatihah and P.Ramlee Yang Ku Kenali.

Sepintas Lalu (A brief overview)
An introduction to the late P.Ramlee and a brief look into his life as an artist that has contributed tremendously towards the film and music industry in Malaysia.

Biografi (Biography)
A look at materials that are related to his background and family.

Kenali P.Ramlee (Getting to know P.Ramlee)
A look at his development during his school years; academically and other activities that he was involved in from his childhood years until he became an artist.

Era Kebangkitan (The era of awakening)
Early materials collected during P.Ramlee’s involvement in music as well as desriptions of his journey as a singer, songwriter and famous musician.

Irama dan Lagu (Songs and melody)
Showcases his work in the music industry as well as the many instruments used by P.Ramlee during his career.

Dunia Filem (The film world)
Takes us back to the movies that P. Ramlee has acted in and directed. Clips from films that he was involved in are displayed according to the year they were filmed.

Secebis Kisah (A part of the story)
A scene from film shoots that he acted in where he posed with filming equipments used.

Anugerah (Awards)
Awards that he has obtained at film festivals where he has made Malaysia proud in the International circuit.

Sepanjang Riwayatku (All my life)
Displays photos of him posing with Malaysia’s politicians as well as his colleagues from in and out of Malaysia.

Bikin Filem (Making a film)
Displays of actual locations from a scene of a film that involved P.Ramlee with replicas of other actors as well.

Al-Fatihah
Photos of the late P.Ramlee during the funeral where people from all walks of life felt his loss.

Views of local artiste after the demise of the late P.Ramlee as well as comments from his former colleagues.

The Pustaka P.Ramlee Memorial Library is closed every Monday except during school and public holidays. Admission is free.
