Literally mean "Wednesday Market", Pekan Rabu is well-known among local and foreign tourists. It is located right in the middle of Alor Setar City. It is a bazaar usually frequented by the Malaysian former Prime Minister, Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad. Most visitors to Alor Setar will make it a point to visit Pekan Rabu Complex.
It was built in 1975 and renovated in 1995. It houses 347 stalls with a variety of business and it is a well-known landmark of Alor Setar.
Before the complex was built, traders did their business in an open building without walls and trading stalls.
