Beyond its distinctive colonial facade is a one-stop visitor centre offering a wide range of facilities, services and warm hospitality to assist tourists in planning an enjoyable and eventful holiday in Malaysia. It also enables them to view and experience the essence of Malaysia within the Complex itself through the various shows and demonstrations of various aspects of its culture.
Also an important historical and architectural landmark in Kuala Lumpur, the main building of this Complex was erected in 1935 to serve as the residence of a wealthy miner and planter named Eu Tong Seng. In 1941, it housed the war office of the British Army but this was short-lived. When the Japanese invaded Malaya during the Second World War, it became the headquarters of the Japanese Imperial Army until the end of the war in 1945.
In 1945, the new government of the then Federation of Malaya took ownership of the building. Opened to public since mid August 1989, Malaysia Tourism Centre (MTC) was once known as MATIC. On the February 16, 2001, the Complex changed its name to Malaysia Tourism Centre (MTC) or also known as Pusat Pelancongan Malaysia.
