The museum, situated at the town centre, within walking distance, at the corner of Merdeka Square, functions as an exhibition and resource centre and is housed in a 1909 building which itself was gazetted as a historical monument which forms one of the major landmark of the city of Kuala Lumpur. Thematic exhibitions are held at intervals, as do other programmes, which involve the Kuala Lumpur community.

Getting there
Dataran Merdeka is accessible by bus, taxi or LRT. It is only about a five-minute walk from Central Market; just take the PUTRA LRT train to the Pasar Seni (Central Market) station. Alternatively, you can catch a taxi from anywhere around town to go to Dataran Merdeka.
