Picturesque kampung (village) surrounded by wealth of nature, plantations and warm and friendly folks. Those are what await for you at Kampung Renok Baru, the National Most Beautiful Village for year 1999. Laid out here is not only the chance to savour real kampung life but an experience to live in a close-knit loving Malay family.
Try on their shoes and walk their way to the rubber or palm oil plantations or the orchard. Put your hand on the delicate rubber tapping process or taste the reward of harvesting the tropical fruit or palm oil. Be there at the right season, the fruits are yours to savour.
At leisure, play their traditional games of sepaktakraw (a traditional high-kicking acrobatic net game) or congkak (a board game) or try your luck at fishing.
Entertainment is rich with culture as the kampung youth displays splendid shows of dikir barat (an upbeat performance of singers, percussionists and choirs accompanied by vigorous clapping and drumming), nasyid (a religious choir) or silat (Malay martial art).
Kampung Renok Baru is located some 14 km north of Gua Musang, which is within accessible to other places of interest - nature, adventure or sightseeing.
They are Etnobotani Park, Kuala Koh National Park, Mount Rabung, Rainbow Waterfalls, Aborigine settlements and Cameron Highlands.
