GETTING THERE
Istana Maziah can be accessed through Jalan Zultan Zainal Abidin or Jalan Hiliran. You will find most places in Terengganu easily accessible. There is a host of transportation modes that one can choose from, when travelling and within Terengganu, i.e. by air, road, buses and coaches, taxi. The normal taxi fare is 8.5 sen for one km and 10 sen for one km for air-conditioned taxis.
Istana Maziah
" One of the regal royal palaces in Malaysia, Istana Maziah's architecture portrays a blend of modern and traditional elements, which reflects the artistic skills of the Terengganu people."

The distinct deep yellow structure of the Istana Maziah royal palace is hard to miss if you're walking around Kuala Terengganu. Located right next to Bukit Puteri, Istana Maziah is believed to have been constructed during the reign of Sultan Zainal Abidin III in 1897 to replace the Istana Hijau, which was burned down during World War II.

Istana Maziah is the venue for royal birthdays, weddings, conferment of titles and receptions for local and foreign dignitaries. This distinct building is a product of the blend between modern and traditional architecture, which reflects the artistic skills of the Terengganu people. 20 craftsmen using limestone mixed with clay, coarse salt, egg yolk and honey constructed it. The palace has tall shuttered windows resembling those of a French chateau.

Located in front of Istana Maziah, Dataran Maziah is a mini-park beautifully adorned with landscapes of shrubs, trees and paved walkways. In the centre of the park, stands an impressive replica of Betel Chewing instruments such as Gobek Sireh and Kacip Pinang.
