Dataran Lang (Eagle Square)
" Boasting a majestic brown eagle sculpture all geared up for flight, Dataran Lang (Eagle Square) is Langkawi's most outstanding landmark for visitors arriving by ferry."

Located next to the Lagenda Park and along the way to the Duty Free Shopping Centre at Kuah town is the Dataran Lang (Eagle Square). It has a huge sculpture no one can miss. Spreading its mighty brown wing, it is the Brahminy Kite eagle that stands aggressively on a huge brown rock, looking afar at the wide spread Andaman Sea.

Dataran Lang was launched in 1996 and it is beautifully landscaped for tourists to take time out to experience a quiet evening walk. Being in Langkawi, the land of mysteries and mythical ponderings, the mighty eagle’s presence has a little story to it too. The name Langkawi is derived from two different words. Lang is derived from the word Helang (eagle) and Kawi refers to the stone that the mighty eagle is standing on.

Dataran Lang is also sprouted with various souvenir outlets and eateries. These outlets are open from 10am to 10pm. To get there from Kuah Jetty, it takes less than ten minutes by foot.

Dataran Lang gives the opportunity to savour delicacies while watch the Dataran Lang light up beautifully with decorative lights at night.
