Batu Pahat Square is the venue of many official functions. The square is surrounded by many interesting old buildings, including the Malay Club Building which was the centre of Malay nationalism in the 1940's, the Historical Society Building and Bukit Bendera where the state flag was hoisted in 1894 to proclaim the founding of Bandar Penggaram, the old name for Batu Pahat.
This beach lies in a quaint little village called Punggor. Though not particularly suitable for swimming, it offers a serene environment for those who seek a place to relax.
