Riddled with legends and myths of a sunken ancient Khmer City with a mythical ‘naga’ (dragon), lurking deep below, Lake Chini remains an attraction for nature lovers with a spirit of adventure. Located deep in the untainted jungle and surrounded by hills, Lake Chini is located southwest of Kuantan and is accessible by boat.
The boat ride takes you along Chini River and through a long and winding river that runs deep into the jungle. On the embankments of the river, one is able to see a wide variety of old and interesting spesies of tropical trees that form a canopy over the river. Underneath of which is an abundance of epiphytes of wild orchids and ferns. Wild animals like monkeys, squirrels, lizards and kingfishers are a common sight.
An added bonus, when in season, is a spectacular sight of pink lotus flowers in full bloom. Highlight of the trip is a visit to an aboriginal (Orang Asli) settlement. At the settlement one is able to witness their simple way of life; like the atap-roofed huts they live in and the use of blowpipes to hunt for game.
