"
Where The Original Builders Of Georgetown Come To Pray"
Tucked away along a quaint alley named Love Lane, Carpenters Guild is a beautifully soothing place to visit. It is also called the Loo Pun Hong and it is dedicated to Lo Pan, the patron deity of carpenters and building artisans. Back in the beginning of Georgetown, Cantonese carpenters and builders coming from China would first stop at this guild in Penang before proceeding to other parts of Malaya. Most of the craftsmen who had helped erected many of Penang's majestic heritage buildings had settled here in Penang. As a result, their descendants continues to form the backbone of building trades today.
