"Bukit Larut was developed early last century by the colonial British as a retreat from the stifling heat and humidity of the lowlands."
Its foothills located a mere three km from Taiping town, Bukit Larut is Malaysia's oldest and smallest hill resort. Formerly known as Maxwell Hill, it is accessible only by a four-wheel drive service. The road up twists and turns through lush tropical virgin jungle, while the fresh cool air greets you as you ascend a total of 72 hairpin bends that adds to the thrill.
The resort at 1,038m offers a spectacular view of the straits of Malacca up to Pulau Pangkor (Pangkor Island) and, on a fine day, even Penang Island. The recreation park and the profusion of flowers attract many visitors. Overnight accommodationa are also available. You can choose to stay in a bungalow or a rest house.

"Taiping is of course famous with its Bukit Larut or Maxwell Hill. To get to hill, you can either take a Land Rover which is an hour ride. It is more adventure if you're going there on ur own foot which takes only 3 hours. But believe me you wont feel it if only you're with a group of friends. There is a camp site up there that is usually used for students for school activities. Every evening, you can see a lot of people jogging at the foothills. " by iamja
"the rollercoaster ride to the top welcomes everybodies.it pretty extreme to some but a great and joyful experince to some.this is the place where profit making businessman in the name of capitalism failed to showed it prowess.
one advice guys....do visit it before it turned to another Genting!!" by ruzaimi sany
"tempat yang menarik.Keindahan terjaga.merupakan tempat rekreasi seisi keluarga yang sesuai. di samping itu dapat juga melihat hidupan liar yang kebanyakannya dikatakan hampir pupus dan mengunjungi Zoo Taiping yang turut berada berhanpiran Taman Tasik Taiping."
"frech air and cool climate" by simon
"Have a paper bag at your disposal should you feel like throwing up from the ride up the hair pin bends. Once you get there i'd suggest you book into the Gunung Hijau rest house, cosy and homey with a fire place too. This hill resort is a refreshing change from the rest. Like i said you just have to bear the trip uphill, the rest is simply heavenly. Take my word for it, I grew up in the town where it's located." by Ole
"sejuk..nyaman..mendamaikan..dan yang paling nikmat ialah sewaktu aku dan rakan2 dapat makan goreng pisang yang dibawa oleh sekumpulan gadis cun..sewaktu ke sana dua tahun nan lalu" by Iwan
