"
The Beserah fishermen conducts a unique practise with water buffaloes, which are not normally seen on the beach for they are always used to plough paddy fields or to pull heavy carts), to transport fish from the boats to the processing area."
Situated ten kilometres from Kuantan, Beserah is a fishing village and is well-known for its salted fish. A unique practise of the Beserah fisherman is to employ water buffaloes (which are not normally seen on the beach for they are always used to plough paddy fields or to pull heavy carts), to transport fish from the boats to the processing area.
It also boasts a batik factory, many cottage handicraft workshops producing items made mostly of sea shells and plant materials such as dried nuts and leaves.
Beserah is also situated south of Balok. It is a rustic fishing village and a good place if you want to just laze around and watch the comings and goings of the local fishermen who occasionally pass by, busy with their own business.
It was quite interesting to watch a fisherman using a triangular net to catch fish, patiently trawling the shoreline. If you're lucky, you can see water buffaloes used to haul the fishermen's catch from the boat to land.
Cherating is a famous beach town not only famous to Malaysians, but to surfers and beach bums alike worldwide. About 47km north of Kuantan, the beach town is a hidden enclave along the famed stretch of Cherating Beach – immaculate and breath taking – lining the east coast of the Peninsular. So much so that the famous Club Mediterranee, commonly known as Club Med, set up its first Asia resort in Cherating.
Riddled with facts and fiction of a sunken ancient Khmer City with a mythical ‘naga’ (dragon), lurking deep below, Lake Chini remains an attraction for the nature lovers with a spirit of adventure.
What to do in Teluk Cempedak, said to be Pahang’s very own Californian boardwalk? What else is there at the 'Jackfruit Bay', as literally translated from Bahasa Malaysia? Fancy some sun-bathing, sailing, and jet skiing?
Sungai Lembing Museum is located approximately 42km from Kuantan. It is easily accessible by a good road network. A visit to the museum will leave you enthralled with the knowledge of Sungai Lembing as being once the largest subterranean mine in the world. Once dubbed the ‘El-Dorado’ of the Malay States, it was a special settlement for the British officers once upon a time.

"Besuch in Beserah im März 2005.
Ich bin mit einem Fischerboot zum Fischfang mit aufs Meer gefahren und habe dazu einen kleinen Artikel verfaßt und natürlich viele Fotos mitgebracht.
Ich bin beeindruckt von der schweren Arbeit der Fischer. Es sollten mehr Touristen diesen Ort kennen lernen. " by Wernicke, Dieter

"I was here last 3 days, and I think it is beatiful beach beach. In evening there is so much activity at the beach, the locals capturing the fish with special made net (I didn't see any buffaloes), the tourist strolling along the beach playing kites, sand castle or parasurfing." by A-World
