The village owes its fame to Sam Poh Footprint Temple the beachfront shrine that is dedicated to Admiral Cheng Ho, the famous Chinese admiral who features prominently in the history of the Melaka Sultanate.
It is also said to be home to the best seafood on the island, also note worthy is a huge footprint embedded in stone. Discovered over 100 years ago, the Chinese, Indians and Malays all have their own explanations of the causes of the footprint, one including a giant called Gedembai. A further three giant footprints have since been found, all in the close vicinity of the first. The debate about the origins of the footprints continues and Gedembai has earned a place in local folklore.

From Georgetown, catch a Yellow Bus No 68 at Lebuh Chulia. This village is located about 3 kilometre from the infamous Snake Temple.
