Batu Layar beach is situated about 70km from Kota Tinggi town and 115km from Johor Bahru. From Johor Bahru, head towards Kota Tinggi, driving for about 47km before turning left near the Petronas gas station. Then drive on for another 5km until you reach a round about and turn right (3 o'clock). Drive on for about 16km you will reach a junction. Take a left at this junction and proceed for another 2km and you will reach Batu Layar beach.

Batu Layar is a fairly secluded beach located quite close to Desaru, within the district of Kota Tinggi. Batu Layar beach is a nice quiet spot where you can indulge in a cosy picnic, go for a quick swim or enjoy a good game of beach volleyball. Relatively rocky in certain areas, the protruding rocks found around Batu Layar beach creates an interesting and picturesque backdrop to your holiday photos. You can visit the Malay kampung nearby or simply laze away, lulled into a quick nap by the cool coastal breeze.
There is one resort offering accommodations, including A-frame chalets, dormitory, meeting facilities and a restaurant. Barbeque and campsite facilities are also available here. Located five kilometres north of Desaru, this museum was developed by the South Johor Development Authority (KEJORA), as part of its development project in the fishing village of Tanjung Balau.
