As your boat or sampan gently guides you down the river, you will discover the answer to this ancient mystery of nature. It has many "hinggapan" fireflies locations. It is said that there are only two places in the world that hold fireflies mysterious wonders and one of them is Kampong Kuantan.

Today, Kampung Kuantan is well known, both locally and internationally, for its unique heritage of the twinkling fireflies on mangrove tree species, called berembang. The "Berembang Tree" or known by its scientific name 'Sonneratia Caselaris' is a type of mangrove tree that grows wildly along the banks of Sungai Selangor. It needs a damp and swampy environment to live. "Berembang Tree" is important to the existence of these fireflies as it provides food for these insects. The fireflies will suck the juice from the leaves as food.
