If you continue north from the Taman Mini Malaysia/Mini ASEAN, you will come to the final attraction at Air Keroh - the pleasant enclosure that houses dozens upon dozens of butterfly species, flitting about everywhere in their enchantingly landscaped home. This is the Butterfly and Reptile Sanctuary.

It is one of the world's most comprehensive butterfly and insect farms. The farm has more than 200 local butterfly species including rare ones like Raja Brooke and Birdwing species.

If reptiles fascinate you, more specifically, crocodiles, then the Taman Buaya Melaka is just the place for you to spend some wondrous time with these ancient creatures feared by villagers living near rivers. With their log-like bodies and skin, and a deceptive grin, crocodiles pack a mighty punch with their tails. In the wild, they are fearsome predators. But here, they are kept in tanks and their eyes seem to have lost a little of their lustre.

The sanctuary also houses a wide variety of exotic snakes within its beautiful and fascinating landscape.

Be forewarned, those who do not take too kindly to creepy-crawlies - there are lots of huge spiders, scorpions and other six and many legged insects that will make your skin crawl. Fortunately, those are not free to roam as the butterflies are.

You too can also be able to view the impressive collection of snakes. The collection includes the Albino Cobra, the giant Burmese Phyton, and the King Cobra. There is also a collection of more than 400 insects' specimen.

User recommendation

"mula-mula sampai, sudah ternampak replika serangga. ditempat yang suhunya yang separa panas dan sejuk,ia memang menarik untuk dilawati . terletak berhampiran dengan empangan dan muzium perhutanan pulau pinang ,iamenyediakan pelancong tempat-tempat yang boleh dilawati seterusnya. Menjadi harapan saya agar tempat ini ditempatkan dengan pelbagai lagi rama-rama untuk menjadi tatapan pelancong asing."   by Alfonso de alburqueque
