Alor Gajah District Museum
"
The Malay-style wooden building, opened in 1990, is home to an interesting collection of weapons, daily implements and costumes."
This is the best place to find out about Alor Gajah's history, especially of the Naning War, which saw fierce clashes between the British and the locals for control of the area's rich resources.
There is a substantial section devoted to traditional wedding ceremonies of Malaysia's ethnic groups including the local Malays. Main exhibits include bridal dais, jewellery and other items of personal adornment, but there are also porcelain items, pictures of outstanding personalities of the district and objects used in traditional ceremonies.
In the vicinity of the museum are food stalls, a bird park and other recreational facilities.
