Roaring Chinese New Year Food Promos to Usher In the Year of the Tiger

We are about two weeks away from Chinese New Year! Have you bought your new and striking red outfits? Brushed up on your mahjong for endless sessions into the night? Best loosen up your belt too because you won’t want to miss out on these food promotions happening all around KL this Chinese New Year.

1. Concorde Hotel Kuala Lumpur
@ Xin Cuisine Chinese Restaurant

Whet your appetite with fine Chinese cuisine, specially prepared by Concorde’s culinary team. Guest may choose from give prosperity set menus. Amongst dishes served include auspicious salmon and snow pear yee sang, braised shark’s fin soup with crabmeat and dried scallop, steamed codfish with soy sauce, gratinated sea prawns with cheese, Szechuan fragrant duck, braised sea cucumber with fish maw, black mushroom, dried oyster and pacific clam and more.

The Chinese New Year spread is priced at RM798++, RM898++, RM1,068++, RM1,238++ and RM1,888++ per table of 10 pax.

2. Impiana KLCC Hotel & Spa
@ Tonka Bean Cafe

Get together for the Emperor’s Reunion Dinner and celebrate with your family from near and far away. Tonka Bean Cafe offers a dinner that is sumptuous and traditional, with an ambience that brings out the joyful spirit of sharing a hearty meal with your loved ones. Menu highlights include: Herbal black chicken soup, Braised sea cucumber, dried oyster, fatt choy and mushroom, BB Abalone loh hon chai with fatt choy and konnyaku, Wok fried eel ‘kong pow’ and Wok fried venison in Mongolian sauce.

The Emperor’s Reunion Dinner is priced at RM108++ per person, on February 13, 2010 (Saturday) from 6.30PM to 10.30PM.

For the Prosperity Chinese Buffet Dinner, there are two menus to choose from:

RM88++ per person (minimum of 3 pax), which includes Buffet appetiser, soup and dessert, with four Chinese main courses to be served a la minute from the kitchen. Menu highlights include: Steamed silver pomfret with king soy sauce, Stir fried tiger prawns in Chinese BBQ sauce, Golden roasted chicken scented with garlic and ginger, and Crock pot of dried oyster, fatt choy, mushroom and broccoli.

RM128++ per person (minimum of 3 pax), which includes buffet appetiser and dessert, with six Chinese main courses to be served a la minute from the kitchen. Menu highlights include: Shark’s fin and crabmeat soup with BB Abalone and fatt choy, Steamed cod fillet with king soy sauce, Stir fried king sea prawns with Chinese BBQ sauce, Wok fried black pepper wagyu beef with capsicum, Crock pot of dried oysters, fatt choy, mushroom and broccoli, and Cantonese noodle with grass prawns, ginger and spring onion.

The Prosperity Chinese Buffet Dinner is available from February 2 to 12, 2010 (except Sunday), from 6.30PM to 10.30PM.

There is also the Crouching Tiger Dim Sum Lunch, where you can savour over 22 dim sum served in small steamer baskets consisting of pau (fluffy buns made from rice flour filled with meat, vegetables or sweet bean pastes), dumplings, lo mai gai (glutinous rice wrapped in lotus leaf filled with meat and mushroom), congee (rice porridge with savoury side items), spring rolls, chee cheong fun (steamed rice noodle rolls), siu mai (steamed dumplings filled with prawns, crab roe and mushroom) and much more.

The dim sum lunch is priced at RM48++ per person. Available on the 1st and 2nd days of Chinese New Year – February 14 and 15, 2010 (Sunday and Monday), from 12.30PM to 4.30PM.

3. Parkroyal Kuala Lumpur

Have it all with Si Chuan Dou Hua’s 6 selections of 5, 7, 8 and 9-course Chinese New Year set menus brimming with delectable and traditional dishes for hearty reunion feasts in celebration of this auspicious spring festival!

Auspicious ingredients such as dried oyster, seaweed, abalone, shark’s fin, fish maw, scallop and sea cucumber are added to the feast as symbols of good fortune.

The set menus range from RM498++ for 4 pax to RM1,188++ for 10 pax, giving you more reasons to turn up the festivities for the coming year of the Tiger.

Si Chuan Dou Hua’s Lunar New Year dining starts from January 11 to February 28, 2010. Lunch is served from 12PM to 2.30PM daily, while dinner is from 6.30PM to 10.30PM daily.

Chatz Brasserie rings in the Chinese New Year with a scrumptious Prosperity Buffet. Indulge in your favourite Chinese dishes, such as Crabmeat shark’s fin soup, Braised mushroom with sea cucumber, Live prawns, Stir-fried mixed vegetables with fatt choy and dried oysters, Seafood fried rice, as well as traditional festive treats like Salmon yee sang station and Dessert station serving Pineapple tarts, Peanut cookies, Kueh pang cake and Nian gao.

Chatz Brasserie’s Lunar New Year Buffet is available for brunch on the first and second days of Chinese New Year (Feb 14 and 15) at RM68++ per adult, RM34++ per child (6-12 years) from 12PM to 4PM. Dinner is priced at RM78++ per adult and RM39++ per child (6-12 years) on the eve, first and second days of Chinese New Year (Feb 13-15) from 6.30PM to 10.30PM.

4. Sunway Resort Hotel & Spa

West Lake Garden lays out four selections of 8-course and 9-course Chinese New Year set menus, priced from RM898++ to RM2010++ per table of 10 pax. For smaller parties, diners can choose from two options of 6-course and 7-course set menus, priced from RM88++ to RM128++ per person for a minimum order of 2 pax.

Signifying prosperity and togetherness, sumptuous dishes with premium ingredients from the set menus include the ubiquitous “Yee Sang”, Stuffed shark’s fin in chicken wing broth with ginseng and dried scallop, Double chicken combination Thai style, Stir-fried sea scallop and fresh octopus with assorted vegetable, Stewed king tiger prawn with crystal roll, Steamed bamboo fish and gold jacket roll with king of soy sauce, Braised 8-head amidori abalone, Durian puff and more.

Among the specialties which will be rotated at Di-Atas Brasserie are Homemade Marinated Smoked Salmon, Prosperity Yee Sang with Salmon and Condiments and Deluxe Combination of Chinese Cold Cuts on Dragon Stand. For something different, try the highly recommended ‘Char Siew’ Chicken Ballotine, Fresh Oysters with Citrus Lemon and Marinated Prawns. Also on the appetisers are salads and dressings of different types as well as the ever-famous Shark’s Fin Soup with Five Treasures.

Begin the ‘Year of the Tiger’ in true Oriental style at the award-winning halal Museum Chinese Restaurant.

Selections of poultry items include Crispy Boneless Chicken with Fragrant Ginger Sauce, Lemongrass-infused Roast Chicken or Deep-fried Chicken Fillet with Almond Flakes. Seafood lovers will appreciate Steamed Star Garoupa and Marble Goby (Soon Hock) in various styles, such as in Premium Soya Sauce, Preserved Vegetables and Sautéed Black Fungus.

The must have prawns, which carries the connotation ‘laughter’, are prepared in many ways – Sautéed with Spicy Peanut Sauce, Stir-fried in Garlic and Ginger, Stuffed with Scallops and Yam, and Deep-fried wrapped in Lotus Leaves.
