"After many visits since the early 1990's, I still consider Zoo Melaka to be a first class place for a relaxing day out.
It is pleasing to see the exhibited animals living in conditions as near to their natural environment as this.
Full credit to Zoo Melaka and their dedicated staff for achieving such good results! "

"Based on my observations, Melaka Zoo is the best in Malaysia. It sure beats even our National Zoo in KL, hands down.
Being a Malaccan, I've been going to the zoo regularly since the late 70s and I've practically 'grown up' with it and witnessed all the expansion and improvements in its concept and management. I really must say that in terms of habitat management, the Melaka Zoo has always been far ahead of its national counterpart. When I finally managed to visit the National Zoo in the early 90s, it was quite a shocking disappointment as I realised that
in terms of animal care and habitat management, KL had not even arrived at the level that the Melaka Zoo had in the 80s. The Melaka Zoo had already practiced the open concept quite early on in the 80s and the results are clearly reflected in the positive mental and physical wellbeing of its exhibits (which also translates to a more satisfactory and enjoyable experience for nature-loving visitors). To obtain a more objective view, I took my KL friends on a visit to the Melaka Zoo and they all arrived at the same independent conclusion. The verdict - Buck up Zoo Negara! "

"Melaka zoo is an excellent place to be in. Everytime I visit Singapore, I'll make it a point to visit Melaka zoo. I found the surroundings to be so natural. - typical South-east Asia, the picture of which I carried in my mind's eye. Visit Melaka(zoo) whenever you are in Singapore/KL. My son Udit(14) and I carry a special memory of the Urang-utans. I wish I could post our photograph on these pages."
